Private Gardener Required in Kent – January 2026 Start

We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Private Gardener to join the wider household team in Kent.

Highlights:

• Start: Late January 2026 start
• Location: West Malling, Kent
• Working hours: 40-45 hours per week, schedule depending on the seasons
• Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 gross per annum

Overview:

Our client is looking for a confident gardener to join their private 5-acre country estate. The grounds comprise of formal gardens, a picturesque pond, a kitchen garden and an outdoor pool. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work and have proven experience working in a similar private estate.

The working schedule will be flexible in accordance with the natural rhythm of the estate. Hours will vary seasonally, longer days could be required during the summer months, balanced by shorter working hours in the winter months. Driving is an essential requirement for this position due to the location of the home.

Duties included but not limited to:

• Care and maintenance of the formal gardens, including manicured lawns and seasonal planting rotations.
• Upkeep of the seasonal kitchen garden
• Pond management, such as monitoring the water quality, plant care and general upkeep to maintain its aesthetic
• Operation and basic maintenance of the garden machinery, including mowers, hedge cutters and leaf blowers
• Monitoring and controlling pests and diseases, using environmentally friendly methods
• Seasonal tasks, such as leaf clearance and composting

Key criteria:

• Ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail
• Proven experience in maintaining private estate or prestigious gardens
• Comfortable in operating and caring for a range of garden equipment
• Driving license is essential
