What is a rota nanny?

A rota nanny works on a shift system with at least one other nanny, but the team can be larger depending on the family requirements.

Thewill be responsible for ensuring smooth handovers at the start and end of each shift.

Rota nanny duties may be very much routine focused (as they are providing 24hr care), outside of night-time duties they will arrange age appropriate activities and outings including those with an education focus. Overseeing homework and meal times will also be a pre-requisite. A rota nanny could be required to help the child prepare for/manage a busy international travel schedule.

Amount of input into cooking and cleaning will be a function of the level of staffing in the household.

Rota Nannies offer 24 hour cover, 7 days per week, 365 days per year for a family.

The rota pattern can vary from household to household, but a typical shift pattern would be 7 days on, followed by 7 days off.

Salary expectations

A rota nanny salary would typically be between £50,000-£80,000+ gross per annum paid as an average weekly salary.

They would normally expect to take their holidays when on their “off weeks”.

The average time to recruit a nanny from start to finish is 2-6 weeks.

The Signature Staff team spend a considerable amount of effort to draw up a shortlist of candidates whom are the best-fit for your household based on your requirements and their skill-set and personality.

Further time needs to be allowed for the schedules of both the client and candidates for interviews and possible subsequent trials particularly for overseas roles.

If you require and position to be filled urgently please advise your consultant of your anticipated time frame and we will work out hardest to fulfil your request.

For a temporary nanny the process can prove to be over a significantly shorter time frame (as little as 1 hour).
