We are on the hunt for a friendly and proactive live in housekeeper/cook for a family of four based in Notting Hill.
The family have two young boys aged 10 and 13 years old who are currently at day school in Windsor. However, in September the 13 year old boy will be going to boarding school so just three members of the family will be living in the house full time.
Given the boys are now more grown up and independent, the family don’t require a nanny per say however, they are looking for a child friendly candidate who is willing to get the boys up first thing in the morning, get them ready for school, feed them breakfast and drive them to the bus stop just 15 minutes way from the house where the boys take the bus to school. The housekeeper/cook will also need to let the client’s small pug out first thing and feed him, so someone comfortable about dogs is very important.
Once the boys have been dropped at the bus stop, the housekeeper/cook will then be required to conduct all traditional housekeeping duties to a very high standard, keeping the home in an immaculate condition. Experience and confidence in dealing with antique furnishings, marble surfaces and delicate materials is very important.
The female principal works from home full time whereas the male principal come and goes during the week between their family home and an external office. Therefore, the candidate needs to be comfortable with having the principals around at all times and respecting the boundaries of being professional and friendly whilst not over familiar.
The boys do not return from school until late afternoon, therefore, there will be a considerable break during the day for the housekeeper/cook to have down time. A daily healthy meal will need to be provided but this can be very straightforward family style dish such as a tray bake.
A lovely ensuite bedroom is provided for the candidate in the basement of the house should they wish to stay there for the early morning starts. A driver is imperative since the candidate will be required to do the short 15 minute school runs and occasionally run errands for the client.
In an ideal world, the candidate will live in during the week and return home at weekends, however the client is very open minded to options here whether this be living in their home a minimum of three nights a week or full time.
This family have had their housekeeper for the past 20 years and other household staff including a nanny and PA for 8+ years which speaks volumes with regards to type of employers they are; kind, considerate and fair.

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 gross per annum + ensuite bedroom (DOE)
