How to Hire Signature Staff

Introduction

We will always endeavour to have an initial phone conversation with you to get a clear understanding of:

  • What help you’re looking for
  • The working hours and days required
  • They type of person you feel will fit in your household
  • The skill-set you need from the candidate
  • Any other details you feel will help us find the right person for you
  • We will also be able to advise you on rates of pay and other employer obligations (incl. tax)

Terms of business

Following this we will:

  • Send you a copy of the job description we have devised for you, which you can amend if you feel we have missed anything
  • Send you a copy of our terms of business outlining our charges and the way we work. If you have any questions, your consultant will be able to help
  • Commence the candidate search once you’ve returned a signed copy of the terms of business to your consultant

Candidate Shortlist

To create a bespoke candidate shortlist for you:

  • We will reach out to the candidates registered with us to draw up a shortlist of suitable options for you
  • From the candidates who are interested in working with your family, we will provide a shortlist of candidates we best feel match your criteria
  • We will subsequently send you the shortlisted candidates’ CV’s and copies of their references
  • Please do give us as much feedback as possible regarding the CV’s – this will help us tailor your search further

Interview & Feedback

Once you have decided you would like to interview any of the candidates:

  • We will arrange the interviews for you – this can be via a phone/video call or face-to-face
  • We’ll send a confirmation email to both yourself and the candidate, confirming the type of interview, time, location (if necessary) and the candidate’s contact details
  • Should a last minute emergency arise, both parties will have the others’ details, to amend the interview
  • We ask that you give us feedback on all of the candidates you meet – this helps us customise your search further

Trial

Following a successful interview:

  • We suggest you arrange a trial with one or two of the candidates – normally this is half-day or a full-day so you can gain a better understanding of each other and be certain you’re making the right choice
  • Candidates will expect to be paid for their time on this trial and the agency can advise on expected rates

Offer Submitted

Once you’ve decided on your chosen candidate for the role:

  • We suggest that you contact 1-2 references of the candidate to ensure you have made the right decision for your family. We have, of course, already checked these references
  • We can help you draft an offer of employment, we will be on hand to help you negotiate the terms of the contract as well as draft the contract for you if needed

Once you’re happy with all the above:

  • We can advise on employer responsibilities and payroll providers if needed. Speak to your consultant to get a discount code for Nannytax – one of the leading household staff payroll providers

After Care & Support

Once your chosen candidate has started work:

  • Your consultant will check in with you from time-to-time in the first few months
  • After this if period we’re always on hand to answer any questions, provide advice and generally offer support and guidance as required
