Overview

A private household near Woking is seeking an experienced, versatile and discreet Live-In Housekeeper and Handyman / Chauffeur to oversee the day-to-day upkeep of the property and support the smooth running of the household.

The property comprises a five-bedroom main residence and a three-bedroom guest annex with a large garden including formal gardens, a vegetable garden and a swimming pool.  The family regularly hosts guests and entertains, so the successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the property is beautifully presented and ready for visitors.

Mondays typically involve a thorough clean and reset following the weekend, while Fridays focus on preparing the home for guests and entertaining.

This is a varied, hands-on position combining housekeeping, practical maintenance, driving, vehicle care and occasional gardening assistance. Some cooking would be appreciated, alongside a willingness to help set up and serve at larger gatherings.

The household has an established gardener who oversees the gardens and grounds. The successful candidate should be comfortable working alongside them and providing assistance when required.

The family values its privacy and enjoys an independent lifestyle. Trustworthiness and the ability to work independently are essential. The household also has two much-loved cats, so candidates must genuinely enjoy being around animals.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Housekeeper:

• Maintaining the main house and guest annex to a high standard, both inside and outside
• Carrying out daily housekeeping, cleaning and general household upkeep
• Managing laundry, ironing and wardrobe care with excellent attention to detail
• Completing a thorough clean and reset of the property on Mondays
• Preparing the home for guests and entertaining, particularly on Fridays
• Assisting with light cooking and meal preparation as required
• Helping to set up and serve at larger parties and gatherings
• Managing deliveries and ensuring items are received and dealt with appropriately

Handyman/ Chauffeur:

• Overseeing contractors, maintenance visits and household repairs
• Monitoring household security and ensuring the property remains secure
• Carrying out general handyman duties and practical maintenance around the property
• Chauffeuring the principals as required
• Maintaining four to five household vehicles, including washing, arranging servicing and overseeing maintenance
• Assisting the gardener with outdoor tasks when needed
• Helping maintain the presentation of the formal gardens, vegetable garden and surrounding areas
• Caring for the two family cats and ensuring their needs are met
• Looking after the property and cats during the principals’ absences, which may last two to four weeks at a time
