This family is looking for a governess/nanny for their 10 year old daughter and 8 year old son.
Highlights
- Start: August 2026
- Location: Chelsea, London
- Working Hours: 3:30 pm-8:30pm, Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm Saturday (optional)
- Salary: DOE
Overview
Your primary focus will be with the daughter, helping her with preparation for the 11+ exam. They have subject specific tutors, but you will oversee the schedule as a whole. She benefits well from consistency along with creative, engaging ways to help her learn and retain information.
Alongside the exam prep, you’ll be responsible for helping both children with homework. The son is generally good at getting his homework done, but he may just need some prompting. He’s starting a new school in September, and there may be some change in the way the new school approaches homework, so you’ll be on hand to support him.
The children have a few extra curricular activities which you’ll have to factor in to your schedules. Their housekeeper will be on hand to help with school runs.
The family is open to having someone start earlier in the day (1:30/2pm) if they are happy to take on the school admin (booking parent’s evening appointments, ordering new uniform, etc.).
They generally travel during school holidays, but they won’t need you to join. They likely won’t travel in October half term 2026 & February half term 2027, in order to have as much 11+ preparation as possible, so you’ll likely go in during these weeks.
The family employ a housekeeper who does all the meals and helps with the school runs. You may be required to prepare snacks and the occasional supper for the children.
They have a friendly puppy.
Duties included but not limited to:
- Homework help and 11+ exam prep
- Liaising with tutors
- Taking the children to extra curricular activities
Benefits
- No travel
- Driving not essential but may be useful
Key criteria
- Teaching background or 11+ tutoring experience
