Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on Head Housekeeper to support the running of a large property with 15+ bedrooms. This is a countryside formal household with an established team of Housekeepers, an House Manager, Estate Manager, and Head Gardener. The Head Housekeeper will work closely with the House Manager and will report to them as well as the Principal.
A senior staff member will always be required on site, with weekends shared between yourself and the House Manager.
The Head Housekeeper will manage the housekeeping team, arranging shifts, managing sick days and creating standard operating procedures for the team. You should be prepared to be hands on, leading by example and ensuring the team understand the high standards required.
The family frequently hosts dinner parties and events, with additional staff brought in as needed. Additional duties may include laying the kitchen table, serving tea and coffee, and assisting with turn-down service. The family have grown up children who visit frequently.
The household has four dogs of various sizes, so candidates must be comfortable around dogs.
Duties included but not limited to:
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards
- Training and guiding housekeeping staff
- Working closely with the House Manager
- Supervising the housekeeping team
- Assisting with day-to-day household operations
- Laying up the kitchen, serving tea and coffee
- Supporting with kitchen duties when required
Key Criteria
- Strong hands-on Head Housekeeper experience
- Comfortable with dogs
- Driver essential
- Hotel Experience beneficial
