Domestic Couple required near Newbury, Berkshire – April 2026 Start, hire by December 2025

We are seeking a hardworking and proactive Domestic Couple to join a formal countryside home in Berkshire.

Highlights:

• Start: April 2026 (contracts agreed by End December 2025) 
• Location: Newbury, Berkshire
• Working Hours: Monday – Friday,8 hours a day, with flexibility depending on schedule
• Salary: £70,000 to £80,000 gross per annum

Overview:

Our client is looking for a dynamic Domestic Couple to assist with the smooth running of their beautiful countryside home. The ideal couple will show genuine enthusiasm, with the confidence to take initiative to maintain high standards throughout the household.

The estate includes 5 tenanted properties within the grounds, but the couples’ main duties will be focused on the principal home. As the family have two dogs, a fondness for animals is essential as the couple will assist with their daily care, exercise through the grounds and pet sitting when the Principals are travelling.

The family enjoy hosting informal dinner parties from time to time, and the couple should be willing to assist with entertaining, food service, and ensuring guests are well looked after.

Duties included but not limited to:

Housekeeping duties:

• Traditional housekeeping duties throughout the 7-bedroom house such as vaccuming, mopping, dusting and wiping down surfaces
• Laundry and bed linens
• Simple, nutritious family style cooking required for daily meals
• Running errands, grocery shopping ensuring the fridge is always stocked  

Houseman duties:

• Strong emphasis on chauffer duties, with regular driving for the principals
• Polishing silver
• Maintaining the properties on the estate, contacting relevant contractors
• Managing the biomass boiler
• Some butler/ serving duties for dinner parties/ guest visits

• Proven experience in a similar role in a formal household
• Driving licence (for both)
