A male principal is on the hunt for a proactive and professional live in housekeeper/cook to join his beautiful estate near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
The estate consists of 11 bedrooms, a kitchen and multiple reception rooms, however the principal lives alone and only uses 4 rooms consistently. The other bedrooms will only need to be prepared when guests come to stay. It is rare that they are all used at once.
The principal works in London from Tuesday – Thursday weekly and is in residence over the weekend. He is also a frequent traveler.
Duties include:
- Cleaning the home, including vacuuming, dusting, mopping, wiping surfaces and windowsills
- Laundry and ironing, including care of delicate items
- Changing sheets and towels
- Preparing the spare bedrooms for guests
- Pet care when the principal is away (two very easy dogs)
- Inventory checks
- Liaising with the client’s PA when specialists are needed, e.g. stone and marble experts
- Dusting antiques with extreme care
- Cooking as requested, mainly breakfast for the principal (scrambled eggs on toast) and dinner parties over the weekend
The principal likes to entertain, and guests often stay over the weekend. The client gets in staff to help for dinner parties.
The client moved into the property earlier this year and so the housekeeper will be instrumental in setting up the household systems and liaising with the PA on what the household needs.
The working days/hours are Thursday to Monday, 9am – 5pm when he is not in residence. When he is in
residence and has guests staying, the working hours will be varied and you will get time off in lieu during the week.
The ideal candidate will be very efficient, a good communicator and doesn’t need much direction. You must have a valid driving license to apply.
