Residential House Manager/ Butler for a Beautiful Country Home near Reading

We have a fantastic position for a dedicated and flexible House Manager/ Butler to work as part of a team taking care of a country house near Reading

The ideal candidate will have a “can-do” attitude along with prior experience running and taking care of the interior of a private household. This is a combination of both a formal and informal household, a large country house, refurbished property on a very beautiful estate.  The successful applicant must be resourceful and self-sufficient and must maintain the property to extremely high standards. Preferably, the candidate will be happy to prepare some simple dishes for the couple, although cooking skills are not essential.

Essential Requirements:

• Previous experience in a Private Household
• Good technical skills
• Extremely hands-on with a can-do attitude
• Good family level cooking
• Driver

Duties to include but not limited to:

• House management – liaison with contractors, staff rotas, household expenditure, provisioning, and team building.
• Overseeing and assisting with the care of Artwork, antiques, silver, and fine fabrics.
• Butler service, drinks service and bar
• Administrative duties, including managing budgets, expenses, inventories, etc
• Informal approach but used to formal standards, knowledgeable with food, wine, and service.
• Family cooking, provisioning for the family (Chef available for dinner parties)
• Assisting with walking the dogs
